10 Valentine Free Printables

I am one of those parents that doesn’t like to have my kids pass out candy for Valentine’s Day. Therefore, I am constantly searching for inexpensive ways to find something cute, funny, or creative for my children to pass out.  Here are a few ideas that were all $1 or less per classmate! I have made a free printable for each Valentine for you to use. I would love to know which one is your favorite!

“Cootie Cleaner” Hand Sanitizer Valentine

Cootie Cleaner

Kids are always playing cooties; so what better way to get rid of Valentine Cooties than with Cootie Cleaner hand sanitizer!  These hand sanitizers are from Bath & Body Works and were purchased for 5 for $5. You can click Cootie Cleaner for free downloadable labels for you to use.  I printed mine on a full adhesive label sheet from Avery, but they can also be printed on paper and cut out and glued. If you want to make your own labels you can also find some hand sanitizers on Amazon.com for less than $1 per bottle.

“I Mustache You to Be My Valentine”

Mustache Valentine Pic

This is one of my favorites and one of the least expensive ones at that! I found these adhesive fuzzy mustaches at The Dollar Tree! There were 7 in a package, making them less than $.15 each!!!! Amazing and cute, right?! Here is my free printable for this fun Mustache Valentine.

“Love is A Gas Valentine!”

Whoopee Cusion

This Valentine is only for those with a sense of humor! Perfect for little boys to give to their friends; the teachers may not be happy, but the kids sure will enjoy them! As a former teacher, I would have found these hysterical, but not every teacher would! I found these at Party City for $.60 each; keeping them in my under $1 range. I recommend leaving them in the package for the teachers sake! Sorry to any teachers out there that may hate me for sharing this one! If you have a fun sense of humor, then these Whoopee Cushion Valentine’s are perfect to pass out! You can download this free printable by clicking here for the fold over printable or here for the square printable.

“You Rock Valentine”

Rock Pic

I can’t put my finger on it, but this one just makes me laugh! Maybe it’s because I get all nostalgic! I have childhood memories of making and having pet rocks. Silly, I know; they don’t do anything! This is a quick and simple Valentine that is also inexpensive as well. I got a bag of decorative rocks from once again, The Dollar Tree, and I had googly eyes already at home. There were over 10 rocks in each bag so these were less than $.10 a Valentine. You can download your free printable here You Rock Valentine.

“Stuck on You” Sticky Hand Valentine

Sticky Hand

Another crowd pleaser is the elastic sticky hand! I found a package of 6 at Target for around $3 making them $.50 each! The package had 3 colors with 2 of each color. This one can’t be taken out of the package! Download the fold over printable here for the Stuck On You Valentine.

“Sip Sip Hooray” Valentine

Straws

Kids always love straws, well at least my daughter does! The crazier the better! The best part is you can find these crazy straws just about anywhere: grocery store, Target, Wal-Mart, and The Dollar Tree! I got my from The Dollar Tree, 6 for a $1! That’s less than $.20 each! I punched 2 wholes and used a little bit of tape to make sure they stayed in place. Download the printable here for the Straw Valentine.

“You’re a Knockout” Valentine

Punch Balloon

Knockout your Valentines with these punch balloons! You can get them at most places as well, but found them the cheapest once again at The Dollar Tree! There were 3 in a package for $1, making them $.33 each! You can download the Knockout Valentine here.

“Color My World” Valentine

Crayon

What kid doesn’t like new crayons? I loved new crayons! Plus, these are in rainbow order! Anyone else as crazy as I am and ALWAYS has to put their crayons in rainbow order? Well I found 6 packs of these for $1 each, at yet again The Dollar Tree along with the cute red and white twine! Simply punch 2 holes where you want your to secure your crayon or you can use double sided tape as well. Download your Color My World printable here.

“You’re A-maze-ing Valentine”

A-maze-ing

This is a quick, easy and inexpensive Valentine. I found this little ball mazes in the party favor section at Target for $2.99. There were 18 in the box (6 of each shape)! That’s only $.16 each! I stuck them to the Valentine print out using double sided tape.  Download your A”maze”ing Valentine here.

“Just ‘Write’ Valentine”

pen

Our last Valentine is also a quick, easy, and cheap! I found these cute little pens at Wal-Mart. They came in a package of 12 in four colors: pink, green, red, and blue. The pack of 12 was $1.99. Download the Just “Write” Valentine here.

Cricut Explore vs Silhouette Cameo – Which is right for you?

Great non-biased evaluation of both products. It really helped me make my decision.

Clever Someday

There has been a deluge of biased information out lately comparing the Cricut Explore vs the Silhouette Cameo but the truth is the systems are very different, each with strengths and weaknesses and neither is a slam dunk for everyone. As the holiday rapidly approaches, which should be on your wish list? Let me try my best to give you some objective guidance.

First let me get the similarities out of the way. Both can cut vinyl or card stock to the level of precision and accuracy quite suitable for the typical to advanced crafter. (Cricut-commissioned tests do show the Explore with a slight lead in accuracy.) Both can cut the fonts on your computer or downloadable in TTF or OTF format as well as images in their own native formats. Both allow you to import and vectorize your own images from jpg or png format. Neither allows their proprietary digital content to be…

15 Super Sunday Game Day Ideas 3

If you’re like me and have spontaneous parties here are 15 great, simple, and affordable ideas for a Super Sunday Party! I have searched the web and found what I consider sure-fire winners to help you put on a fun, decorative, and budget friendly party.

I always like to start with decorations! I love the idea of making your food table a football field! They recommend using felt to cover the table, but you can save even more money by using a green plastic table-cloth from the Dollar Tree. Another plus side, covering your table makes for easy clean up! That’s exactly what I love after a long party that will more than likely have some adult beverages consumed!

SONY DSC

You can find the tutorial on “A Night Owl“.

I also loved the Football and Greens garland and coaster by “My Cup Runneth Over“! Once again to save money, you can use just all felt from a local craft store or Wal-Mart instead of artificial turf.

SB Garland

A simple decorative idea for drinking cups is to decorate clear plastic or brown paper cups with masking tape or white electricaltape, making the cup resemble a football. If you’re like me and have lots of mason jars around or you’re not working on a tight budget, you can purchase dozens of them at Wal-Mart or Target for fairly inexpensively.  You can also use tape to turn them into footballs and then remove the tape for another party another time!

Mason Jar Football Cups

The tutorial and more great ideas can be found on “Flamingo Toes“.

Finger foods, snacks, and all around some of my favorite ideas for goodies to serve at your party. Click on each picture to take you to the sight with the recipe or idea!

The fastest and easiest dessert is the store-bought brownies and a simple tube of white frosting to draw the football laces on them!

Looking for something to keep the little ones and the non-football lovers, but party lovers entertained? Here are 3 fun game ideas!

SB Commercial Bingo

Everyone loves to watch Super Bowl Commercials! Print out these bingo boards for people to play! You can even have a board fee and the winner gets the money!

Paper Football Table

Finger Football!!! I played this all the time with my brothers growing up. Boy does it bring back memories! Make your own Finger Football table with PVC pipe, felt-grass or table-cloth, white tape, and paper folded into a triangle.

Found on “Babble

Or for the little ones at your party, how about blindfolded pin the field goal made out of painter’s tape and construction paper footballs!

Field Goal Football

And last but not least, some adults only beverages with the Super Bowl’s teams’ colors! Full disclosure: These are not listed in a biased order! I personally will only be watching for the commercials. Please always drink responsibly and have a designated driver!

Patriot Part Shot

Found on “Punchbowl.com”

Seahawks Super Shot

Seahawks’ Super Shot found on “Simply {Darr}ling“.

Whatever you do for your Super Bowl Sunday, make sure it is with friends and family! They are what makes your life happy and lively! Enjoy!

Letters of Life, Love, & Laughs

As my kiddos continue to get older I am discovering that I need to find new ways to communicate with them.  As much as I would like to think they can and would come to me with questions, problems, and crushes, I know as they get older the all these things become more embarrassing and uncomfortable to talk about, face to face.

I’m sure I am just reinventing the wheel, but I decided to create private journals for each of my tweenagers to provide another line of communication.  Notice I tried to play cool on my son’s journal and opted for Mom instead of Mommy!  I have promised them that what they write in these journals will be just between us, and I will not tease them (we are a very sarcastic family).  I’m happy to say that they were both thrilled about the journals and the letters back and forth have already begun! I was so encouraged by their response I thought I would share with all the other mommies out there!

JournalsFrontFinishedBoth

I’m all about keeping things cheap, so I used things around the house that I already had, but needed to purchase the journals. I  hopped on over to the Dollar Tree (not sponsored) and grabbed two composition journals. If you don’t have all these supplies on hand, they can all be found at any craft supply store. Here is a list of the supplies I used per journal:

4 Sheets of Coordinating Scrapbook Paper

Ribbon, Approximately 16 inches

1 Composition Book

Glue

JournalSupplies

I chose to use spray glue because I am a little OCD/anal on silly little details such as glue bumps or lines under my paper. Little imperfections like that would drive me nuts every time I looked at the journal! I used 3M Photo Mount (not sponsored) spray adhesive (acid free) because it is safe to use on photos and papers and will not cause them to discolor in any way. I bought it at a local craft store and have had it for years! One can goes a long way! There are a ton of brands out there and are typically $10 or less.

JournalsSprayAdhesive

After I had selected everything, I traced the shape of the journals covers on the wrong side of the paper. Make sure you label which part of the cover each traced outline goes with as I found they all vary a slight bit. I try to work smarter, not harder and end up doing something twice because my anal retentiveness kicks in and wants it to be perfect!

JournalTracePlacementJournalsTracedPatterns

I cut out all of the covers and headed outside to use my spray glue to adhere them in place. The fumes from spray glue are strong! Not to mention all the over-spray that happens. It works much like spray paint so make sure to protect any surfaces you do not want the glue on!

JournalCoversInsideBoth

The next step you don’t have to do, but both my tweenagers thought it was cool to have the ribbon book mark to keep our place where we left off last. I used grosgrain ribbon I had around the house, because I make hair accessories as well (which I will have future “how to blogs” on). I always like to make things longer than needed so that I have a little fudge factor room! I also cut a strip from the left over cover paper to go over where I glued the ribbon to the back inside cover. I used E6000 glue to secure the ribbon in place, but again, any glue will work.

JournalsBackInsideRibbonBoth

Again this part is totally optional, but a good tip for all ribbon projects, is to seal the ends of the ribbon by running a flame along the end of the ribbon so that it seals the ribbon and prevents it from fraying. (Also works on hair bows!) You want the ribbon to barely touch the flame and move it quickly along. Better to do a couple run-byes then to get too close, move too slowly and have your ribbon catch on fire! I typically just use a lighter unless I have a several ribbons I’m sealing or I need to take a photo myself! I did seal the ribbon before I glued them to the books.

JournalsSealRibbon

Then I glued my cover piece over the ribbon. Again, totally optional!I just liked the clean look of it.

JournalInsideBackBoth

Next I made my cute cover labels, because I love little details like that, and wrote a letter to each kiddo explaining my intended purpose of the journals. I used my Print Shop program for both, but could easily be done in Word as well.

JournalInsideLetterJournalLetterToGrady

I would love to hear your comments, questions, or even any tweaks you may have made to your journals!
